Today, we're officially introducing BayofBengal to the world.


It's Bangladesh's first dedicated B2B export discovery and verification platform, a place where international buyers can find, evaluate, and connect with real, verified Bangladeshi exporters, and where exporters finally get the digital presence their manufacturing capability has always deserved.

The Problem We Set Out to Solve


Every year, Bangladesh exports billions of dollars worth of garments, jute & natural fiber, leather goods, frozen shrimp and seafood, home-textiles, fresh vegetables, and dozens of other industry categories to buyers across the globe. Behind those numbers are thousands of manufacturers whose craftsmanship has earned Bangladesh a genuine seat among the world's top manufacturing nations.


And yet, finding a Bangladeshi exporter online has never been easy.


The idea for BayofBengal started with a simple personal experience. While sourcing products from China, I came across Made-in-China.com. Within minutes I could browse manufacturers, compare suppliers, check credibility signals, and reach out directly. It was smooth, fast, and confidence-inspiring. That experience stuck with me, because it showed exactly how much friction good technology can remove from global sourcing.


Not long after, I noticed something harder to ignore: countries like China and India each have dedicated digital platforms representing their manufacturing ecosystems. Bangladesh, one of the largest exporting nations in the world, didn't.


This wasn't a manufacturing problem. Bangladesh's factories are more than capable. It was a discoverability problem.


International buyers usually start their sourcing journey with a Google search. Too often, that search leads them to foreign directories, sourcing agents, or intermediary platforms long before it leads them to the actual Bangladeshi manufacturer. Even buyers searching for a specific company by name frequently run into scattered, outdated, or missing information.


On the other side, exporters face the opposite problem. Their expertise is manufacturing, not marketing. They invest heavily in production, compliance, and quality control, but rarely have the resources or time to build a strong digital presence. So even genuinely excellent exporters stay invisible to the buyers actively looking for them.


The gap was never in the manufacturing. It was in the visibility.


As someone born and raised in Bangladesh, this felt like a problem worth solving, not just as a business opportunity, but as something that could genuinely strengthen the country's export ecosystem.


That belief became BayofBengal.


Named after the waterway that has connected Bangladesh to global trade for centuries, BayofBengal isn't meant to be just another directory. At its core, BayofBengal is a structured, searchable database of verified Bangladeshi exporters, built exclusively around Bangladesh's export ecosystem.


Unlike a traditional directory that's really just a long list of company names, BayofBengal organizes exporter data into an intelligent, interconnected system. Buyers can browse by industry, product category, HS Code, district, or company name, and move naturally between all of them without ever leaving the platform. For a ranked, curated view, the Top Exporters by industry page is usually the fastest starting point.

The Database, By the Numbers

Every industry, category, HS Code, and district has its own dedicated page, all interconnected, so a buyer can start from a broad industry, like Garments & RMG or Frozen Shrimps & Seafood, and narrow down to a specific product, region, or company without hitting a dead end.


Where the Data Comes From


The platform's primary source is the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh. From there, every profile is enriched by cross-referencing multiple public sources, including government records such as the Labour Inspection Management Application (LIMA), relevant industry associations like the BGMEA, company websites, Google Business Profiles, and public trade and customs information such as the EU REX system.


That information is standardized, matched, and merged into individual exporter profiles, and the entire database is synchronized daily, so buyers are never looking at stale data.


What a Company Profile Actually Shows


Each exporter profile is built to give a buyer everything they'd need before making first contact, including:


- Company name, industry, product categories, and HS Codes

- Factory location and district

- Company website and available contact information

- Business description and export markets served

- Factory size and workforce information

- Compliance information, business registrations, and certifications

- Trust Score, Company Credibility Score, and overall BayofBengal Score


The Trust Framework


This is the part we're most proud of, because it's what turns BayofBengal from "just another list" into an actual evaluation tool.


Trust Score measures operational confidence. It factors in things like compliance, factory scale, workforce size, export activity, digital presence, and certifications.


Company Credibility Score focuses on formal business legitimacy, evaluating registrations, certifications, and verified credentials.


BayofBengal Score combines both into a single overall ranking, which is what determines how exporters are ordered throughout the platform, and how they're ranked on our exporters listing page.


Instead of a buyer having to piece together credibility signals from five different sources, it's already done for them.


Built to Navigate, Not Just Search


BayofBengal is deliberately designed around structured browsing rather than a single search bar. While a standard search easily guides you to our main exporter listing page, the real exploration begins through deep navigation. Every exporter card features clickable text for HS codes, districts, and categories. Clicking any of them takes you directly to a dedicated page showcasing all exporters for that specific item. Meanwhile, the main listing page features an industry tab with clickable category pills, allowing you to instantly filter your view. It’s built to feel like exploring a deeply connected ecosystem, not just scrolling through search results.


Under the Hood


For the technically curious, BayofBengal is a custom-engineered data platform built with Next.js and TypeScript. We use Payload CMS for our admin panel, making it easy to manage and update exporter profiles seamlessly from a private GitHub repository. Instead of using restrictive and expensive serverless platforms like Vercel or Neon PostgreSQL, we chose absolute control and scalability. We deployed our own PostgreSQL server on a Hetzner VPS, utilizing a custom CI/CD pipeline with Coolify and GitHub. By eliminating high cloud overhead costs, we can securely host thousands of data profiles and keep the platform completely free for international buyers. Behind the scenes runs a complex, state-of-the-art workflow. A custom-built Node.js scraping engine safely harvests data from public platforms, automatically runs it through enrichment pipelines, and seeds it directly into our live production website. This automated, self-sustaining ecosystem delivers clean trade data at scale.


How It Makes Money


BayofBengal is completely free for buyers. No paywalls, no gated information, no third-party ads cluttering the experience.


Monetization is built around exporters, through two tiers:


- BOB Verified — an annual verification program that adds extra trust signals to a company's profile

- Featured Listing — a subscription that places an exporter's profile prominently at the top of relevant category and industry pages

One Month In: The Traction So Far

BayofBengal publicly launched in June 2026. It's been live for roughly a month as of this writing, and honestly, the early numbers have exceeded what we expected this early.

BayofBengal is already among the top 3 results for over 50 core search queries, including targeted terms like "verified exporters bangladesh", "verified bangla exporters", along with location-based and product-specific searches like "top fish exporters bangladesh", "top jute exporters bangladesh","top exporters in dhaka", and "top exporters in jessore". Beyond these peak positions, the platform ranks on the very first page for more than 100 other trade-related keywords. Maybe the most telling stat: for roughly a third of the exporters currently listed, BayofBengal already ranks among the top results when someone searches that company's name directly. That's a strong early signal that the platform is becoming an authoritative source, not just another indexed directory.


User growth:

That international spread matters a lot to us. It means the platform is already reaching the exact audience it was built for: global buyers actively looking for Bangladeshi suppliers.

People aren't just browsing. Buyers are reaching out, and exporters are actively coming forward to claim and improve their profiles, which tells us the value proposition is landing on both sides.

BayofBengal was also recognized during Third Bracket's UK Prestige Awards 2026 assessment as one of the standout projects for technical execution, which felt like a nice bit of early external validation for something built from scratch in a short window.

Where We're Headed

BayofBengal today is a discovery and verification platform. That's phase one, and it's intentional. We wanted to get the data foundation right before building anything on top of it.


Here's the full roadmap:


Phase 1: Export Discovery Foundation (current stage)

Building the core database, organizing exporters across industries, categories, HS Codes, and districts, introducing the Trust and Credibility scoring systems, and establishing strong organic search visibility.


Phase 2: Exporter Ownership and Profile Management

Secure exporter accounts, a company dashboard, self-service profile editing, and the ability to upload certificates and compliance documents directly. This shifts profiles from platform-managed to exporter-managed.


Phase 3: Buyer and Exporter Communication

Direct messaging between buyers and exporters, centralized inquiry history, notifications, and lead management tools so first contact is faster and better organized.


Phase 4: Digital Product Catalogs

Full product catalogs, galleries, technical specs, and searchable product listings. This is where the platform expands from company discovery to product discovery.


Phase 5: Trade Facilitation

Structured sourcing support, order management workflows, and eventually secure payment and export process coordination.
